Meet The Go Body Team
Dr abby steven
Osteopath Gold Coast
Abby was initially drawn to osteopathy due her own experiences as athlete and subsequent injuries.
She undertook her undergraduate and master’s in osteopathic medicine in NZ where she graduated in 2008. In her multiple roles, she has been a clinician, clinical supervisor, athlete and more recently a mother to two girls.
Abby’s treatment style would be described as a tailor-made for each patient with a biomechanical focus, utilising traditional osteopathic concepts with current evidence-based reasoning. The techniques she primarily uses include, but are not limited to soft tissue techniques, muscle energy technique, myofascial release, high velocity low amplitude manipulation and corrective exercise therapy.
Sam steven
Remedial Massage Therapist Gold Coast
Sam’s drive to educate himself about high performance athletes, began in his formative years as a young athlete himself. He continued as a young man competing in numerous sports such as: rugby, tennis, and later triathlon.
As his knowledge base grew, as did his drive to further deepen his understanding into the intricacies of the human body.
Out of school he undertook study in personal training and coaching in Dunedin. As a personal trainer and gym manager he was overseeing training of some of the worlds top snow sports and triathlon athletes.
As if by a stroke of serendipity, Sam met a lovely local osteopath 'Abby' while training for a triathlon, this was to be his future wife Abby (our osteopath!). Together they shared a joint passion of competition and wellness. This further motivated Sam to undertake more study in musculoskeletal therapy and he earned his Advance diploma in Remedial Massage from Otago polytechnic.
Sam’s treatment style would be described as dynamic a tactile therapy. Whereas he utilises techniques such as: soft tissue massage, dry needling, trigger point therapy, post isometric relaxation and muscle energy techniques. His capacity to undertake a thorough case history and pre-treatment assessment assist in formulating an effective treatment plan. Sam works collaboratively with osteopathy and patient goals in mind, and he believes this is the keystone to his high success rates in enhancing patient recovery and function.
